Bracketron® Dash-Mat Universal Mobile Device Dash

The product is a great idea but the design has a lot of room for improvement. The features that are most important to me in a car mount are the following: 1 Ability to mount the iPhone so that I can use the iPhone s GPS capabilities. Basically the iPhone needs to be very close to the windshield in order to pick up GPS satellite signals just like a regular GPS Garmin Tom Tom etc . Certain car mounts are not conducive to this like the car mounts that mount unto the A/C vents. 2 Ability to tuck away out of sight when the car is parked. It is unfortunate that cars are broken into more frequently when thieves believe that there are expensive electronics in the car. A car mount attached to the windshield or the permanently on the dash board leads to too much temptation for the not so honest citizens. This mount satisfies the 2 criteria above well. However the design has room for improvement. When you compare this product to the most similar product in the market today the Garmin GPS bean bag dash mount which I also own for my Garmin GPS its flaws and limitations are very evident. Unlike the 4 arm design of the Garmin bean bag this round bean/sand bag does not conform to the contours of the car as well. This limits the amount of contact between the dash surface and bean/sand bag surface and thus allows for substantial skidding on sharp turns unlike the Garmin bag. Another design flaw is that there is virtually no room or clearance to maintain the iPhone upright and connect the charger or car adapter to the iPhone. I have to use the iPhone in the horizontal sideways position to connect the car cable from the stereo to the iPhone. I considered another non-skid weighted dashboard mount by ARKON Resources Inc as it seems to provide more clearance to maintain the iPhone in the upright position and connected to the charger or car stereo cable but the design does not look any better as far as being able to conform to the contours of a non-flat dashboard thus limiting the non-skid attribute. Also the ARKON product is designed specifically for the iPhone and will not accept any other product unlike this Fommy product which will accept virtually any other similarly sized mp3 player phone or GPS. In summary this is a good product which could be further improved by increasing the length/height of the arm to increase the clearance so that the charging or stereo cable can be attached to the iPhone in the upright position and changing the round and rather stiff design to one that conforms the contours of a non-flat dashboard.

The video review really was useful for explaining how to use the product. The instructions weren t very good. Overall the Brackertron Dash-Mat works are demonstrated. So far it is the best phone mount that I ve used.
